SUMMARY:Wednesday\, July 29\, 2026\; The Holy Martyr Callinicus
DESCRIPTION:VESPERS ON TUESDAY EVENING\n\nKathisma Reading\n\nThe appointed
  psalms are chanted.\n\nAt Psalm 140\n\nTone 8\n\nIf You mark iniquities\,
Lord\, who can stand?* But with You forgiveness is that You may be revere
d.\n\nWhen You were nailed to the Cross\, Your hands and feet run through\
,* Your holy side was pierced\, pouring forth drops of blood and water\,*
divine salvation\, supremely good One\,* that You might wash away my defil
ement and pollution.* Glory to Your goodness\, О all-Compassionate One!\n
\nI have waited for You as You have commanded\; my soul patiently relies o
n Your promise\,* for it has trusted in the Lord.\n\nYou endured suffering
\, О Master\,* that You might bestow dispassion upon all who worship Your
sufferings and voluntary sacrifice:* the spear\, nails and reed\, which Y
ou willingly endured with long-suffering:* that for the sake of Your suffe
rings\, О Lord\, You might win dispassion for me.\n\nFrom the morning wat
ch until night* let Israel trust in the Lord.\n\nThe unblemished heifer\,
beholding her Bullock willingly lifted up upon the Tree\,* cried out with
compunction\, lamenting:* “Woe is me\, О my most beloved Child!* How ha
ve the ungrateful assembly of the Jews rewarded You\,* desiring to leave m
 e bereft of You\, О all-Beloved!”\n\nTone 8\, Podoben O all-glorious wo
nder…”\n\nFor with the Lord there is mercy\, and with Him there is ple
ntiful redemption\;* and He shall redeem Israel from all its iniquities.\n
\nGodly minded martyr Callinicus\,* you devoutly preferred death above lif
e:* you revealed a faithful image of the death of Christ!* Therefore you o
btained immortality and unending joy!* You have made your dwelling with th
e ranks of angels\, glorious one\,* where all the champions rejoice!\n\nPr
aise the Lord\, all the nations\;* proclaim His glory\, all you people.\n\
nAll-blessed martyr Callinicus\, you obtained the unseen Lord* as an invin
cible ally against unseen enemies!* You raised up great trophies of immort
ality!* By the first of your contests you overthrew him* who boasts that h
e would blot out the earth and the sea.* You drowned him in the streams of
your blood!\n\nStrong is the love of the Lord for us\;* eternally will Hi
s truth endure.\n\nLet us honour Callinicus in hymns today!* He is the for
emost fighter for piety\;* a destroyer of the enemy\, the constant compani
on of the martyrs!* He is a temple of the Holy Spirit who became a soldier
of Christ the King!* He is truly the inexhaustible treasury of healings\,
 * and the wonderful support of the faithful!\n\nTone 7\, Glory… Now…\n
\nО all-holy Virgin Lady\, who has given birth to the Lord* who in His te
nder compassion was nailed to the Cross\,* pouring forth a stream of life
upon the world:* Entreat Him\, that our souls may be saved\;* for we\, the
  faithful\, have you alone as a refuge\, bulwark\, and aid.* Wherefore\, w
 e flee to your protection.\n\nProkeimenon\, Tone 1\n\nYour mercy\, O Lord\
, shall follow me* all the days of my life.\n\nverse: The Lord is my sheph
erd\, I shall not want. In green pastures He gives me repose.\n\nAposticha
\n\nTone 8\n\nО Christ God who was lifted up upon the Cross\,* You saved
the race of mankind.* We glorify Your sufferings!\n\nI have lifted up my e
yes to You enthroned in heaven. Behold\, as the eyes of servants are on th
e hands of their masters\, as the eyes of a maid are on the hands of her m
istress\, so are our eyes on the Lord our God until He has mercy on us.\n\
nYou were nailed to the Cross\, О Christ God\,* opening the gates of para
dise.* We glorify Your divinity!\n\nHave mercy on us\, O Lord\, have mercy
on us\; for we have been filled with shame\; our soul is all too full of
the mockery of the rich\, of the contempt of the proud.\n\nYour martyrs\,
О Lord\, were no longer mindful of the things of life\,* but ignored thei
r tortures for the sake of the life which is to come\,* and were shown to
be inheritors thereof\;* therefore\, they rejoice with the angels.* By the
ir supplications grant great mercy to Your people.\n\nGlory… Now…\n\nO
Lord\, when the sun beheld You the Sun of righteousness\, hanging upon th
e Tree\,* it hid its rays\, and the light of the moon was changed to darkn
ess\;* and Your all-immaculate Mother was pierced in the depths of her sou
 l.\n\nTroparia\n\nTone 4\n\nYour holy martyr Callinicus\, O Lord\, through
his sufferings* has received an incorruptible crown from You\, our God!*
For having Your strength\, he laid low his adversaries\,* and shattered th
e powerless boldness of demons.** Through his intercessions\, save our sou
 ls!\n\nGlory… Now…\n\nO Virgin\, all immaculate Mother of Christ God\,
 * a sword pierced your all-holy soul* when you saw your Son and God willin
gly crucified.* Therefore\, O blessed One\,* never cease to pray to Him* t
hat He may grant us forgiveness of our sins.\n\nAT DIVINE LITURGY ON WEDNE
 SDAY MORNING\n\nTroparia and Kontakia\n\nTroparion\, Tone 4: Your martyr\,
Callinicus\, O Lord\,* by his passion acquired the crown of incorruptibil

save our souls.\n\nGlory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy S
pirit\, now and for ever and ever. Amen.\n\nKontakion\, Tone 2: As a brigh
t and unerring star you appeared to the world* proclaiming with your rays
 the Sun\, that is\, Christ\, O martyr\, Callinicus\,* and you have extingu
