SUMMARY:Tuesday\, October 20\, 2026\; The Holy Great-Martyr Artemius.
DESCRIPTION:AT VESPERS ON MONDAY EVENING\n\nKathisma Reading\n\nThe appoint
ed psalms are chanted.\n\nAt Psalm 140\n\nTone 4\, Podoben “As one valia
nt among the martyrs…”\n\nIf You mark iniquities\, Lord\, who can stan
d?* But with You forgiveness is that You may be revered.\n\nYou did not re
ject Christ\, divinely wise Artemius\,* nor did you sacrifice to idols* bu
t you gave your long-suffering and tortured body to scourging* and the tor
ments of many wounds!* You were patient as though another suffered in your
place.* You awaited future rewards and immortal glory!\n\nI have waited f
or You as You have commanded\; my soul patiently relies on Your promise\,*
for it has trusted in the Lord.\n\nYou did not reject Christ\, divinely w
ise Artemius\,* nor did you sacrifice to idols* but you gave your long-suf
fering and tortured body to scourging* and the torments of many wounds!* Y
ou were patient as though another suffered in your place.* You awaited fut
ure rewards and immortal glory!\n\nFrom the morning watch until night* let
Israel trust in the Lord.\n\nYou were suspended from a height and mangled
\,* broken by stones\,* you were burned on all sides by heated irons* and
finally beheaded by the sword.* Yet you remained steadfast\, glorious one\
,* for you set the foundation of your soul's house on the spiritual Rock!*
Therefore you are filled with ineffable light through your victories\,* j
oining the angels and the martyrs!\n\nFor with the Lord there is mercy\, a
nd with Him there is plentiful redemption\;* and He shall redeem Israel fr
om all its iniquities.\n\nYou were suspended from a height and mangled\,*
broken by stones\,* you were burned on all sides by heated irons* and fina
lly beheaded by the sword.* Yet you remained steadfast\, glorious one\,* f
or you set the foundation of your soul's house on the spiritual Rock!* The
refore you are filled with ineffable light through your victories\,* joini
ng the angels and the martyrs!\n\nPraise the Lord\, all the nations\;* pro
claim His glory\, all you people.\n\nYour relics\, glorious one\, ever pou
r the grace of healing* on those who love you\,* drowning passions and inf
irmities\, Artemius\,* putting to flight legions of evil demons.* They wat
er the hearts of the faithful\,* causing the divine fruits of the virtues
to spring forth\,* together with the knowledge of true worship!\n\nStrong
is the love of the Lord for us\;* eternally will His truth endure.\n\nYour
relics\, glorious one\, ever pour the grace of healing* on those who love
you\,* drowning passions and infirmities\, Artemius\,* putting to flight
legions of evil demons.* They water the hearts of the faithful\,* causing
the divine fruits of the virtues to spring forth\,* together with the know
 ledge of true worship!\n\nTone 2\, Glory…\n\nLet us honour Artemius\,* t
he spiritual beacon of faith\,* for he denounced the evil emperor* and God
has robed the church with the purple of his martyr's blood!* Therefore he
has received the abundant grace of healing\,* curing the infirmities of t
hose who approach his relics in faith!\n\nNow…\n\nRejoice\, O Mary Theot
okos\,* the indestructible temple and surpassing holy\;* as the prophet cr
ies out:* Holy is Your temple\,* wondrous in righteousness.\n\nAposticha\n
\nTone 4\n\nI wish to wash away the record of my sins with tears\, O Lord\
,* and please You the rest of my life through repentance\;* but the enemy
deceives me and fights against my soul.* Save me\, O Lord\, before the end
and I utterly perish.\n\nI have lifted up my eyes to You enthroned in hea
ven. Behold\, as the eyes of servants are on the hands of their masters\,
as the eyes of a maid are on the hands of her mistress\, so are our eyes o
n the Lord our God until He has mercy on us.\n\nWho\, among the tempest-to
ssed\, having taking refuge in Your harbour\,* will not be saved O Lord?*
Or who\, that ails and falling down in Your infirmary\, will not be healed
?* O Maker of all that is\, and Physician of the ailing\,* save me\, O Lor
 d\, before the end and I utterly perish\n\nHave mercy on us\, O Lord\, hav
e mercy on us\; for we have been filled with shame\; our soul is all too f
ull of the mockery of the rich\, of the contempt of the proud.\n\nО Lover
of mankind\,* as One who has accepted the patience of the holy martyrs\,*
by their prayers\, grant us great mercy.\n\nTone 6\, Glory…\n\nYou suff
ered for Christ according to the law\, Artemius\,* despising both an earth
ly emperor and the spiritual enemy.* You fittingly received a crown from t
he Saviour\,* the Judge Who determined your contest!* Now you rejoice in t
he heavens with the ranks of angels\,* openly delighting in the fullness o
f light on high\,* partaking abundantly of the one and tri-personal Light!
 * Therefore\, we orthodox believers\, loving the martyrs\,* cry out with h
ymns to you:* Rejoice\, invincible rock and mighty warrior of Christ!* Rej
oice\, destroyer of the falsehood of idolatry\,* the radiant champion of t
he truth!* Entreat the Lord that through you we also may receive a place*
before the throne of His majesty!\n\nNow…\n\nYou were deemed worthy of g
reat gifts\, * O pure Virgin Mother of God\, * for you gave birth in the f
lesh to One of the Holy Trinity\, * Christ\, the Giver of life\, * for the
  salvation of our souls.\n\nTroparia\n\nTone 4\n\nYour martyr\, Artemius\,
O Lord\,* by his passion acquired the crown of incorruptibility from You\
, our God.* For possessing Your power he overcame the torturers* and shatt
ered the feeble insolence of demons.* By his supplications\, save our soul
s.\n\nGlory… Now…\n\nLet us poor sinners hasten with fervour to the Mo
ther of God\;* let us humbly kneel before her and say from the depth of ou
r hearts:* O Lady\, be kind to us and help us.* Hasten\, for we are perish
ing under a multitude of sins.* Do not turn away your servants empty-hande
d\,* for you are their only hope and protection.\n\nAT DIVINE LITURGY ON T
