SUMMARY:Tuesday\, August 11\, 2026\; The Holy Martyr Euplus.
DESCRIPTION:Dormition Fast. Post-feast of the Transfiguration\n\nAT VESPERS
ON MONDAY EVENING\n\nKathisma Reading\n\nThe appointed psalms are chanted
.\n\nAt Psalm 140\n\nTone 1\, Podoben “Joy of the ranks of heavens…”
\n\nIf You mark iniquities\, Lord\, who can stand?* But with You forgivene
ss is that You may be revered.\n\nHe who of old spoke with Moses on Mount
Sinai* in images\, saying: “I am God who am!”* today\, transfigured on
Mount Tabor\,* shows forth the Prototype\, shining with rays of splendour
 .* Wherefore\, O Christ\, I magnify Your power!\n\nI have waited for You a
s You have commanded\; my soul patiently relies on Your promise\,* for it
has trusted in the Lord.\n\nTaking with You Your favourite disciples\, O C
hrist\, Peter\, James and John\,* You willingly led them up to the mountai
n\,* showing them an awesome wonder:* the everlasting and unbearable magni
ficence* of Your divine arrival from afar.\n\nFrom the morning watch until
night* let Israel trust in the Lord.\n\nThe apostles of old\, trembling a
t Your unapproachable advent\, O Christ\,* falling prostrate on the ground
\,* marvelled at the power of Your divinity\,* which shone forth more brig
 htly than the sun\, O Good One\,* with Your ineffable might.\n\nTone 1\, P
odoben “You have given a sign…”\n\nFor with the Lord there is mercy\
, and with Him there is plentiful redemption\;* and He shall redeem Israel
from all its iniquities.\n\nYou traversed well the abyss of suffering\,*
your sail filled with the breath of the Spirit\;* and you made your way to
the calm haven of the kingdom of God\,* wherein you have received rich re
ward for your pangs\,* and stand with the angels before the Master of crea
 tion\,* O blessed one.\n\nPraise the Lord\, all the nations\;* proclaim Hi
 s glory\, all you people.\n\nClad in a purple robe dyed in thy blood\, O g
lorious one\,* and crowned with the wreath of victory by the hand of the C
reator of life\,* you dwell in the heavens\, reigning with the most Compas
sionate One.* Wherefore\, we call you blessed\, as a true martyr* and a se
rvant of the Word\,* the confirmation of the Faith.\n\nStrong is the love
of the Lord for us\;* eternally will His truth endure.\n\nAs a minister of
the mysteries of the Master\,* the wondrous Euplus brought himself forth
like an innocent lamb\;* and\, beheaded with the sword\, he became a divin
 e lamb\,* a sacrifice of sweet savour.* We\, therefore\, call him blessed\
 , celebrating today\, in sacred manner\, his hallowed suffering\,* O you w
ho love the martyrs.\n\nTone 1\, Glory… Now…\n\nThe mountain which bef
ore was dark and gloomy is now honourable and holy\,* for thereon did Your
feet stand\, O Lord\;* for in the latter days You made manifest the hidde
 n\, pre-eternal mystery\,* Your awesome transfiguration\, to Peter\, John\
, and James.* But they\, unable to endure the radiance of Your countenance
and the brightness of Your raiment\,* fell prostrate on the ground and co
vered themselves.* And\, seized with terror\, they marvelled\,* beholding
Moses and Elijah conversing with You as they stood with You\;* and the voi
ce of the Father bore witness\, saying:* “This is My beloved Son in whom
I am well pleased:* Obey Him!* He will grant the world great mercy!”\n\
 nAposticha\n\nTone 2\, Podoben “O house of Ephratha…”\n\nDesiring to
transform the nature of Adam\,* Christ now ascends Mount Tabor\,* reveali
ng His divinity to the disciples.\n\nYours are the heavens\,* and Yours is
the earth.\n\nThe thrice-radiant light of Your divine glory* shone forth
ineffably on Mount Tabor\, O Saviour\,* and has illumined all things.\n\nT
abor and Hermon* shall rejoice in Your name.\n\nThe disciples\, beholding
the transformation of Your garments* and of Thy whole body\, O Word\,* fel
 l prostrate\, chanting.\n\nTone 4\, Glory… Now…\n\nTransfigured on the
high mountain\,* the Saviour\, having with Him His preeminent disciples\,
 * shone forth most wondrously\,* showing them forth as illumined by the lo
ftiness of the virtues* and as ones vouchsafed divine glory.* Moses and El
ijah\, who spoke with Christ\,* showed that He has authority over the livi
ng and the dead\,* and that He is the God who of old spoke through the law
and the prophets.* Of Him was the voice of the Father heard saying from t
he cloud of light:* “Obey Him\, who through the Cross made hell captive*
and grants life everlasting to the dead!”\n\nTroparia\n\nTone 4\n\nYour
holy martyr Euplus\, O Lord\,* through his sufferings has received an inc
orruptible crown from You\, our God.* For having Your strength\, he laid l
ow his adversaries\,* and shattered the powerless boldness of demons.* Thr
 ough his intercessions\, save our souls!\n\nTone 7\, Glory… Now…\n\nYo
u were transfigured on the mount\, O Christ God\,* showing Your glory to Y
