The appointed psalms are chanted.

At Psalm 140

Tone 1

If You mark iniquities, Lord, who can stand?* But with You forgiveness is that You may be revered.

You who by Your most pure hand fashioned mankind, O compassionate One,* came to heal the sick, O Christ.* By Your word You raised up the paralytic by the Sheep’s Pool.* And cured the ailment of the blood-streaming woman.* Upon the tormented daughter of the Canaanite woman You were merciful,* and You did not disdain the request of the centurion.* For this cause we cry to You:* O Almighty Lord, glory be to You.

I have waited for You as You have commanded; my soul patiently relies on Your promise,* for it has trusted in the Lord.

From the morning watch until night* let Israel trust in the Lord.

The paralytic, who was like an unburied dead man,* saw You and cried aloud:* Have mercy upon me, O Lord, for my bed has become my grave.* Of what profit then is my life?* I have no need for the Sheep’s Pool,* for when the waters are troubled there is none to lift and place me in there.* But I come to You, O Source of healings,* that together with all I may cry aloud:* O Almighty Lord, glory be to You.

Tone 8

For with the Lord there is mercy, and with Him there is plentiful redemption;* and He shall redeem Israel from all its iniquities.

Attending to the sweet words of the divine Spirit,* you forsook all the bitterness of the carnal passions, O divinely blessed Glyceria,* and through death you have passed over to immortal glory,* entreating Christ that He grant great mercy to all.

Praise the Lord, all the nations;* proclaim His glory, all you people.

Glyceria was wounded with Your sweet love, O Master,* and endured the bitter pain of wounds, O Word of God.* Therefore, she has been translated to delight devoid of pain,* as one undefiled and incorrupt.* Through her supplications, O Word, grant great mercy to all.

Strong is the love of the Lord for us;* eternally will His truth endure.

Confessing well the name of Christ your Bridegroom before the iniquitous enemy,* you suffered lawfully for His sake, O honoured one,* your members severed by force;* and you manfully vanquished the wild beasts,* and now you pray that He grant great mercy to all.

Tone 5, Glory… Now…

Jesus went up to Jerusalem to the Sheep’s Pool,* which by the Hebrews is called Bethesda, having five porches.* Therein lay a multitude of the ailing;* for an Angel of God went down each season and troubled the water,* granting healing to those who drew nigh in faith.* And the Lord, on seeing a man who had been there for many years,* said to him: Do you wish to be made whole?* And the sick man replied: Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled,* to lift and place me into the pool.* I have wasted all my substance on physicians and was not deemed worthy of mercy.* But the Physician of both souls and bodies said to him:* Take up your bed and walk, and proclaim My might and great mercy* to the ends of the earth.

Aposticha

Tone 3

All things have been enlightened by Your Resurrection, O Lord,* and Paradise has been opened again.* And acclaiming You, the whole of creation* ever offers praise to You.

I have lifted up my eyes to You enthroned in heaven. Behold, as the eyes of servants are on the hands of their masters, as the eyes of a maid are on the hands of her mistress, so are our eyes on the Lord our God until He has mercy on us.

Save me, O Lord my God, for You are the salvation of all.* The tempest of the passions disquiets me, and the burden of my iniquities doth submerge me.* Grant me a helping hand, and raise me up to the light of compunction,* since You alone are compassionate and the Lover of mankind.

Have mercy on us, O Lord, have mercy on us; for we have been filled with shame; our soul is all too full of the mockery of the rich, of the contempt of the proud.

O Christ, truly great is the power of Your martyrs, who drive off evil spirits,* for though they lie in sepulchres; they vanquish the power of the adversary,* by faith in the Holy Trinity contesting for the sake of piety.

Tone 8, Glory… Now…

In Solomon’s Porch there lay a multitude of impotent folk,* and at mid-feast Christ found there a paralytic who had been bedridden for thirty and eight years.* He called out to him with the voice of authority:* Do you want to be made whole?* And the infirm one replied: Sir, I have no man, that upon the troubling of the water,* may lift and place me into the pool.* Whereupon He said to him: Take up your bed.* Behold, you have become whole, sin no more.* By the intercessions of the Theotokos, O Lord,* send down to us Your great mercy.

Troparia

Tone 4

Your lamb, Glyceria, O Jesus, cries in a loud voice:* “You, O my Bridegroom, I love; and, seeking You, I undergo martyrdom.* And with You I am crucified and buried in Your baptism,* and I suffer for Your sake that I may reign with You.* And I die on Your behalf that I may live in You.* Receive me as a spotless sacrifice,* sacrificed for You with love.”* Through her intercession in Your mercy save our souls.

Tone 3, Glory… Now…

Let the heavens be glad, let the earth rejoice,* for the Lord has done a mighty deed with His arm.* He trampled death by death. He became the first-born of the dead;* He saved us from the abyss of Hades* and granted great mercy to the world.

DIVINE LITURGY ON TUESDAY MORNING

After the priest has exclaimed, Blessed be the Kingdom… and the people have responded, Amen, the clergy sing the Paschal Troparion once and the people repeat it. Then, the clergy sing the first half, and the people conclude it.

Paschal Troparion

Christ is risen from the dead,* trampling death by death,* and to those in the tombs* giving life.

First Antiphon

Shout to the Lord, all the earth,* sing now to His name, give glory to His praise.

Through the prayers of the Mother of God,* O Saviour, save us.

Say unto God, “How awesome are Your works!* Because of the greatness of Your strength Your enemies will flatter You.”

Through the prayers of the Mother of God,* O Saviour, save us.

Let all the earth worship You and sing to You,* let it sing to Your name, O Most High!

Through the prayers of the Mother of God,* O Saviour, save us.

Glory… Now… Only-begotten Son…

Third Antiphon

Come, let us sing joyfully to the Lord, let us acclaim God, our Saviour

Son of God, risen from the dead, save us who sing to You: Alleluia.

Let us come before His face with praise, and acclaim Him in psalms.

Son of God, risen from the dead, save us who sing to You: Alleluia.

For God is the great Lord and the great king over all the earth.

Son of God, risen from the dead, save us who sing to You: Alleluia.

Troparia and Kontakia

Troparion, Tone 3: Let the heavens be glad, let the earth rejoice,* for the Lord has done a mighty deed with His arm.* He trampled death by death. He became the first-born of the dead;* He saved us from the abyss of Hades* and granted great mercy to the world.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

Kontakion, Tone 3: Lord, as of old You raised the Paralytic,* lift my soul by Your divine presence,* for by many sins and foolish actions,* I, too, am now afflicted and crippled.* Raise me, that being saved I may cry to You:* Glory to Your power, O merciful Christ.

Now and for ever and ever. Amen.

Kontakion, Tone 8: Though You descended into a tomb, O Immortal One,* yet You destroyed the power of Hades;* and You rose as victor, O Christ God,* calling to the myrrh-bearing women: Rejoice!* and giving peace to Your Apostles:* You, who grant Resurrection to the fallen.

Hymn to the Mother of God

The Angel cried out to the One full of Grace: O chaste Virgin, rejoice! And again I say, Rejoice! Your Son has risen from the tomb on the third day, and raised the dead. Let all people rejoice! Shine, shine, O new Jerusalem, for the glory of the Lord has risen upon you! Exult now and be glad, O Sion! And you, O chaste Mother of God, take delight in the resurrection of your Son.

Communion Hymn

Receive the Body of Christ;* taste the fountain of immortality.* Praise the Lord from the heavens; praise Him in the highest.* Alleluia, alleluia,* alleluia. (Psalm 148:1)

Instead of Blessed is He Who comes… we sing:

Instead of We have seen the true light… we sing:

Christ is risen from the dead,* trampling death by death,* and to those in the tombs* giving life.

Instead of May our mouths be filled… we sing three times:

Christ is risen from the dead,* trampling death by death,* and to those in the tombs* giving life.

Instead of Blessed be the name of the Lord… we sing three times:

Christ is risen from the dead,* trampling death by death,* and to those in the tombs* giving life.

At the dismissal, instead of Glory be to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and forever and ever. Amen. we chant:

Christ is risen from the dead, trampling death by death,* and to those in the tombs giving life.

After the final Amen, the Troparion Christ is risen is sung as at the beginning of the Liturgy, but with the addition:

And to us He has granted life eternal;* we bow down before His resurrection on the third day.
