At Psalm 140
Tone 8, Podoben “What shall we call you, O holy ones?…”
If You mark iniquities, Lord, who can stand?* But with You forgiveness is that You may be revered.
Having curbed the passions with the bridle of abstinence, O wonderworker Cyriacus,* you robed yourself in the radiant garment of dispassion,* and laid bare all the malice of him that of old stripped our first parents naked;* and now you make your abode in paradise, ever rejoicing.* Pray that our souls be saved.
I have waited for You as You have commanded; my soul patiently relies on Your promise,* for it has trusted in the Lord.
From the morning watch until night* let Israel trust in the Lord.
Bearing the Cross upon your shoulders, you followed after Christ,* scorning the pleasures of life with unrelenting thought,* and having slain the passions of the flesh with intense vigils and prayers,* you received the grace to heal infirmities, O venerable one.* Pray that our souls be saved.
For with the Lord there is mercy, and with Him there is plentiful redemption;* and He shall redeem Israel from all its iniquities.
Praise the Lord, all the nations;* proclaim His glory, all you people.
O venerable Cyriacus, you lived in the desert making bitter herbs your food,* and, embittering your senses, you uprooted the passions of your soul, O blessed one.* That is why, having lived angelically, you have received heavenly delight after Your repose.* Pray that our souls be saved.
Strong is the love of the Lord for us;* eternally will His truth endure.
O venerable Cyriacus, you lived in the desert making bitter herbs your food,* and, embittering your senses, you uprooted the passions of your soul, O blessed one.* That is why, having lived angelically, you have received heavenly delight after Your repose.* Pray that our souls be saved.
Tone 8, Glory…
We honour you, O our father Cyriacus, instructor of a multitude of monks,* for we have truly come to know the straight way by following your steps.* Blessed are you for having laboured for Christ,* you triumphed over the power of the enemy, O you that converses with angels,* companion of the venerable and the righteous.* With them entreat the Lord to have mercy upon our souls.
Now…
I, a created being, ever offend the Creator and move Him to anger.* Grant me correction, О Maiden, first conciliating Him;* and with your help raise me up to pleasing works,* that I may receive salvation and remission.
Prokeimenon, Tone 8
And now bless the Lord,* all you servants of the Lord.
verse: Who stand in the temple of the Lord, in the courtyards of the house of our God.
Aposticha
Tone 7
As did the Prodigal Son, I also come to You, O compassionate one,* and I fall down before You.* Accept me as one of Your hired servants O God,* and have mercy on me, O Lover of mankind.
I have lifted up my eyes to You enthroned in heaven. Behold, as the eyes of servants are on the hands of their masters, as the eyes of a maid are on the hands of her mistress, so are our eyes on the Lord our God until He has mercy on us.
Like the man who fell among thieves and was wounded,* I also have fallen as a result of the multitude of sins,* and my soul has been grievously wounded.* To whom shall I, guilty as I am, flee for refuge,* if not to You, the merciful Physician of souls?* Pour upon me, O God, Your great mercy.
Have mercy on us, O Lord, have mercy on us; for we have been filled with shame; our soul is all too full of the mockery of the rich, of the contempt of the proud.
Glory to You, О Christ God,* boast of the apostles and joy of the martyrs,* who preached the consubstantial Trinity!
Tone 6, Glory…
O venerable father, report of your corrections has gone forth throughout all the earth.* That is why in the heavens you have found the reward of your labours;* you destroyed hordes of demons and attained to the ranks of the angels,* whose life you emulated blamelessly.* As you have boldness before the Lord, beg peace for our souls.
Now…
Like the Archangel, let us the faithful* hymn the bridal-chamber of heaven, the portal truly sealed:* Rejoice, for whose sake have budded forth to us Christ the Saviour of all,* the Bestower of life and God!* With your arm O Lady cast down the tyrants, our godless foes,* O most pure one, O hope of Christians!
Troparia
Tone 1
You were shown to be a desert dweller, an angel in the flesh,* and a wonderworker, O our God-bearing father Cyriacus;* having received heavenly gifts through fasting, vigil and prayer,* you healed the infirmities and souls of them that in faith have recourse to you!* Glory to Him that gave you strength!* Glory to Him that crowned you!* Glory to Him that through you works healings for all!
Glory… Now…
The universe recognizes in you, O Woman full of grace,* the marvel of marvels, and it rejoices.* You have borne without human seed* the One Whom even the highest ranks of angels cannot look upon,* and you have given Him birth in a manner beyond understanding.* Intercede with Him for the salvation of our souls.
