SUMMARY:Monday\, April 20\, 2026\; Our Venerable Father Theodore Trichinas.
DESCRIPTION:VESPERS ON SUNDAY EVENING\nAfter the priest has exclaimed\, Ble
ssed be our God… and the people have responded\, Amen\, the clergy sing
the Paschal Troparion once and the people repeat it. Then\, the clergy sin
g the first half\, and the people conclude it.\n\nPaschal Troparion\n\nChr
ist is risen from the dead\,* trampling death by death\,* and to those in
the tombs* giving life.\n\nAt Psalm 140\n\nTone 5\n\nIf You mark iniquitie
s\, Lord\, who can stand?* But with You forgiveness is that You may be rev
ered.\n\nHaving been affixed to the Tree with nails\,* You annulled the cu
rse that came to us through the tree\,* and having been laid in the tomb\,
 * by Your divine power You restored to life the dead from all ages.* We gl
orify and praise Your almighty authority.* O divine Pascha\, Jesus almight
y\,* our Life and the effulgence of the Father!* Wherefore\, the things of
heaven now rejoice with the things of earth\,* singing and chanting trium
 phal songs to You\, O Word\, the victorious One\, O Christ almighty\,* You
who bestow great mercy upon the world.\n\n I have waited for You as You
have commanded\; my soul patiently relies on Your promise\,* for it has tr
usted in the Lord.\n\nIs the Life to be found amid the dead?* Does the unw
aning Sun yet tarry beneath the earth?* Thus lamented the assembly of myrr
h-bearing women.* Come then\, let us hasten to behold the holy tomb.* Wher
e within they saw a radiant Angel\,* filling them with amazement\,* and tr
ansforming their sorrow into joy as he cried to them:* The Life-bestower h
as arisen\;* be not amazed\, O modest ones.* He reigns over all\,* bestowi
ng great mercy upon the world.\n\nFrom the morning watch until night* let
Israel trust in the Lord.\n\nAt deep dawn\, before the light of day\,* the
women sought the Sun\, who was before the sun came to be.* Having come to
the tomb\,* a radiant Angel called to them saying:* The Light has dawned
forth and shone upon those slumbering in darkness.* Hasten now and proclai
m the tidings to His radiant disciples\;* and transform their deep sorrow
into sweet joy.* This is the gladsome Pascha\, the salvation of all the wo
rld.* With an undoubting heart\, dance and clap your hands in joy.* For Ch
rist has arisen\,* bestowing great mercy upon the world.\n\nTone 8\n\nFor
with the Lord there is mercy\, and with Him there is plentiful redemption\
;* and He shall redeem Israel from all its iniquities.\n\nO venerable fath
er Theodore\, you offered yourself as a choice gift to God\,* having acqui
red all-night vigilance and compunction\,* divine instruction\, utter humi
 lity\, hope\, faith and undiluted love\,* watchfulness and lovingkindness\
, true dispassion and prayer\,* which showed you to be a most radiant pill
ar of light.\n\nPraise the Lord\, all the nations\;* proclaim His glory\,
all you people.\n\nO venerable father Theodore\,* seeking with pious mind
to clothe yourself in the vesture of truth* and the raiment of salvation\,
 * you never ceased to cover your body with rags of sackcloth\;* and thus\,
strengthened by the power of the divine Spirit\,* you laid bare the wiles
of him who stripped us naked.\n\nStrong is the love of the Lord for us\;*
eternally will His truth endure.\n\nBeing poor in spirit\, you brought yo
urself as a living sacrifice\,* an acceptable whole-burnt offering* and a
precious gift\, O most blessed one\,* to God who assumed our flesh from th
e Virgin Mother and beggared Himself for our sake.* Wherefore\, you have r
eceived heavenly delight.* Pray to Him\, we beseech you\,* that He have me
 rcy upon us.\n\nTone 1\, Glory… Now…\n\nO myrrh-bearing women\,* why h
ave you come to the grave?* Why do you seek the Living among the dead?* Th
us cried the Angel: the Lord has arisen\, take courage.\n\nProkeimenon\, T
one 8\n\nAnd now bless the Lord\,* all you servants of the Lord.\n\nverse:
Who stand in the temple of the Lord\, in the courtyards of the house of o
ur God.\n\nAposticha\n\nTone 2\n\nCome\, let us worship God the Word\,* be
gotten of the Father before all ages\,* incarnate of the Virgin Mary\;* fo
r having endured the Cross\, He was handed over for burial\, as He Himself
had willed\,* and having risen from the dead He has saved me\, the whole
man\,* who has gone astray.\n\nI have lifted up my eyes to You enthroned i
n heaven. Behold\, as the eyes of servants are on the hands of their maste
rs\, as the eyes of a maid are on the hands of her mistress\, so are our e
yes on the Lord our God until He has mercy on us.\n\nI have sinned before
 You\, O Saviour\, like the prodigal son\;* receive me\, O Father\, as one
 repentant\,* and have mercy on me\, O God.\n\nHave mercy on us\, O Lord\,
have mercy on us\; for we have been filled with shame\; our soul is all to
o full of the mockery of the rich\, of the contempt of the proud.\n\nHavin
g no desire for earthly pleasures\,* the passion-bearers were deemed worth
y of the good things of heaven\,* and became fellow citizens of the angels
 .* By their intercessions\, O Lord\,* have mercy and save us.\n\nTone 2\,
Glory… Now…\n\nThe women came with fear to the sepulchre* as they hast
ened to anoint Your Body with sweet-smelling spices.* And not finding it\,
they were at a loss among themselves\,* being ignorant of the Resurrectio
n.* But an Angel came to them and said:* Christ has arisen\, granting us g
reat mercy.\n\nTroparia\n\nTone 2\n\nWhen You went down to death\, O Life
Immortal\,* You struck Hades dead with the blazing light of Your divinity.
 * When You raised the dead from the nether world\,* all the powers of heav
en cried out:* O Giver of life\, Christ our God\, glory be to You!\n\nGlor
y…\n\nThe noble Joseph took down Your most pure Body from the tree.* He
wrapped it with a clean shroud and aromatic spices\,* and placed it in a n
ew tomb.* But on the third day You arose\, O Lord\,* granting the world Yo
ur great mercy.\n\nNow…\n\nThe angel stood by the tomb and cried out to
the women bringing ointment:* Ointments are for the dead\,* but Christ has
shown Himself not subject to corruption.* So now cry out: The Lord is ris
en\,* bestowing great mercy upon the world.\n\n&nbsp\;\nAT DIVINE LITURGY
