SUMMARY:Monday\, April 13\, 2026 Holy Priest-Martyr Artemon and those with
 him (284-305).
DESCRIPTION:VESPERS ON SUNDAY EVENING\nAfter the priest has exclaimed\, Ble
ssed be our God… and the people have responded\, Amen\, the clergy sing
the Paschal Troparion once and the people repeat it. Then\, the clergy sin
 g the first half\, and the people conclude it.\n\nAt Psalm 140\n\nTone 1\n
\nIf You mark iniquities\, Lord\, who can stand?* But with You forgiveness
is that You may be revered.\n\nAs You did not violate the seals of the to
mb\,* after Your awesome Resurrection\, O Life-bestower\,* so also in this
  manner\, though the doors were shut\,* You\, O Christ\, entered into the
midst of Your all-famed Apostles\,* filling them with joy.* And Your uprig
ht Spirit\, was granted to them\,* in accordance with Your boundless mercy
.\n\nI have waited for You as You have commanded\; my soul patiently relie
s on Your promise\,* for it has trusted in the Lord.\n\nWhen You appeared
to Your disciples\, O Lord\,* Thomas\, who was also called the Twin\, was
not amongst them.* Therefore\, he did not believe in Your Resurrection\,*
and he cried out to them that had seen You:* I will not believe that He ha
s arisen\,* unless I put my finger into His side* and the imprints of the
nails.\n\nFrom the morning watch until night* let Israel trust in the Lord
.\n\nChrist exclaimed to Thomas:* As you will\, put forth your hand\, and
touch Me.* Know that\, like yourself\, I also have bones and an earthen bo
dy.* Do not harbour further doubts\;* but rather\, like the others\, belie
ve in Me.* Then Thomas cried aloud to Him:* You are my Lord and God:* glor
y be to Your arising!\n\nFor with the Lord there is mercy\, and with Him t
here is plentiful redemption\;* and He shall redeem Israel from all its in
iquities.\n\nHaving dwelt on earth\, you have united yourself to the incor
poreal ones\,* and with them you unceasingly minister to the Trinity\, O d
ivinely blessed Artemon\;* wherefore\, ever comporting yourself as a heave
nly man\,* you teach mortals the divine wonders of heaven.\n\nPraise the L
ord\, all the nations\;* proclaim His glory\, all you people.\n\nIllumined
with divine radiance\, you laid waste to your body with many torments\,*
passing over to the immaterial effulgence* wherewith\, by your entreaties\
, you have dispelled the dark night of the passions\,* enlightening our so
uls.\n\nStrong is the love of the Lord for us\;* eternally will His truth
endure.\n\nO hieromartyr\, cease never to pray for those who celebrate you
r memory with faith* and hymn the many struggles of thy martyrdom\,* that
we may be preserved from misfortunes and tribulations* and delivered there
 by from future corruption\,* O martyr Artemon\, preacher of God.\n\nTone 1
\, Glory… Now…\n\nWhile the disciples were gathered\, and the doors we
re shut\,* You entered of a sudden\, O Almighty Jesus\, our God.* And stan
ding in their midst\, You granted them peace\, and filled them with the Ho
ly Spirit.* You commanded them to tarry\, and in no wise depart from Jerus
alem* until they be vested with power from on high.* Therefore\, we cry to
You:* O our Enlightenment and Resurrection and Peace\, glory be to You.\n
\nGreat Prokeimenon\, Tone 7\n\nWho is so great a God as our God?* You are
the God who does wonders!\n\nverse: Among the people have You made Your p
ower known!\n\nverse: And I said: now have I made a beginning: this change
has been wrought by the right hand of the Most High.\n\nverse: I have rem
embered the works of the Lord\, and called to mind Your wonders from of ol
 d.\n\nAposticha\n\nTone 1\n\nReceive our evening prayers\, O Holy Lord\,*
and grant us remission of sins\;* because You alone have revealed* the Res
urrection to the world.\n\nI have lifted up my eyes to You enthroned in he
aven. Behold\, as the eyes of servants are on the hands of their masters\,
as the eyes of a maid are on the hands of her mistress\, so are our eyes
on the Lord our God until He has mercy on us.\n\nSince the abyss of my tra
nsgressions is great\, O Saviour\,* and I am sunk grievously in my offence
s\,* extend to me Your hand and save me\,* as You once saved Peter\, O God
\,* and have mercy on me.\n\nHave mercy on us\, O Lord\, have mercy on us\
; for we have been filled with shame\; our soul is all too full of the moc
kery of the rich\, of the contempt of the proud.\n\nO Lord\, by the interc
essions of all the Saints and of the Theotokos\,* grant us Your peace and
have mercy on us\,* since You alone are compassionate.\n\nGlory… Now…\
n\nEight days after Your arising\, O Lord\,* You appeared to Your disciple
s in the place where they were gathered\,* and You pronounced to them: Pea
ce be to you.* And You showed Your hands and immaculate side to the doubti
ng disciple.* Therefore\, believing\, he cried to You:* O my Lord and my G
od\, glory be to You.\n\nTroparion\n\nTone 4\n\nHaving shared the way of l
ife of the apostles\,* and having become a successor to their thrones\,* l
abouring you found the divinely inspired way to contemplation.* Therefore\
, forthrightly ministering the word of truth\,* you shed your blood for th
e faith\, O hieromartyr\, Artemon.* Intercede with Christ our God for the
salvation of our souls.\n\nTone 7\, Glory… Now…\n\nWhile the tomb was
sealed\, O Christ God\,* You dawned as life from the sepulcher\,* and whil
e the doors were shut\,* You came to Your disciples\, the Resurrection of
all\,* renewing a right spirit in us through them\,* according to Your gre
at mercy.\nAT DIVINE LITURGY ON MONDAY MORNING\nAfter the priest has excla
imed\, Blessed be the Kingdom… and the people have responded\, Amen\, th
e clergy sing the Paschal Troparion once and the people repeat it. Then\,
the clergy sing the first half\, and the people conclude it.\n\nPaschal Tr
oparion\n\nChrist is risen from the dead\,* trampling death by death\,* an
d to those in the tombs* giving life.\n\nTroparia and Kontakia\n\nTropario
n\, Tone 7: While the tomb was sealed\, O Christ God\,* You dawned as life
from the sepulcher\,* and while the doors were shut\,* You came to Your d
isciples\, the Resurrection of all\,* renewing a right spirit in us throug
h them\,* according to Your great mercy.\n\nGlory be to the Father and to
the Son and to the Holy Spirit\, now and for ever and ever. Amen.\n\nKonta
kion\, Tone 8: With his searching hand\,* Thomas explored Your life-giving
side\, O Christ God.* For when You entered while the doors were shut\,* h
e called out to You with the rest of the Apostles:* You are my Lord and my
God!\n\nProkeimenon\, Tone 3\n\nGreat is our Lord and great is His streng
th\;* and of His knowledge there is no end.\n\nverse: Praise the Lord\, fo
r a psalm is good\; may praise be sweet to our God. (Psalm 146:5\,1)\n\nEp
 istle\n\nActs 3:19-26\n\nAlleluia\, Tone 8\n\nverse: Come\, let us sing jo
yfully to the Lord\, let us acclaim God our Saviour.\n\nverse: For God is
the great Lord and the great king over all the earth. (Psalm 94:1\,3)\n\nG
ospel\n\nJohn 2:1-11\n\nHymn to the Theotokos\n\nThe Angel cried out to th
e One full of Grace: O chaste Virgin\, rejoice! And again I say\, Rejoice!
Your Son has risen from the tomb on the third day\, and raised the dead.
Let all people rejoice! Shine\, shine\, O new Jerusalem\, for the glory of
the Lord has risen upon you! Exult now and be glad\, O Sion! And you\, O
chaste Mother of God\, take delight in the resurrection of your Son.\n\nCo
 mmunion Hymn\n\nPraise the Lord\, O Jerusalem.* Praise your God\, O Sion.*
Alleluia\, alleluia\,* alleluia. (Psalm147:1)\n\nInstead of Blessed is He
Who comes… we sing:\n\nChrist is risen from the dead\,* trampling death
by death\,* and to those in the tombs* giving life.\n\nInstead of We have
seen the true light… we sing:\n\nChrist is risen from the dead\,* tramp
ling death by death\,* and to those in the tombs* giving life.\n\nInstead
of May our mouths be filled… we sing three times:\n\nChrist is risen fro
m the dead\,* trampling death by death\,* and to those in the tombs* givin
g life.\n\nInstead of Blessed be the name of the Lord… we sing three tim

those in the tombs* giving life.\n\nAt the dismissal\, instead of Glory b
e to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit\, now and forever and ever
. Amen. we chant:\n\nChrist is risen from the dead\, trampling death by de

e Troparion Christ is risen is sung as at the beginning of the Liturgy\, b
ut with the addition:\n\nAnd to us He has granted life eternal\;* we bow d
own before His resurrection on the third day.
