SUMMARY:Friday\, May 1\, 2026\; The Holy Prophet Jeremiah\; Blessed Hieroma
rtyr Clement Sheptytsky\, Archimandrite of Univ.
DESCRIPTION:Abstention from meat and foods that contain these ingredients.\
nAT VESPERS ON THURSDAY EVENING\nKathisma Reading\n\nThe appointed psalms
 are chanted.\n\nAt Psalm 140\n\nTone 8\n\nIf You mark iniquities\, Lord\,
who can stand?* But with You forgiveness is that You may be revered.\n\nO
Lord\, You knew the glorious Jeremiah even before he was created\,* and Yo
u sanctified the prophet before his birth\, and from infancy\,* as one who
knew freedom of understanding beforehand:* Through his supplications save
our souls\, in that You are merciful.\n\nI have waited for You as You hav
e commanded\; my soul patiently relies on Your promise\,* for it has trust
ed in the Lord.\n\nO Lord\, even though the holy Jeremiah was cast into a
cesspool\,* yet he noetically acquired a beautiful sweet fragrance\,* for
he dwells in the mansions of paradise.* By his supplications preserve us a
ll\, in that You are our Benefactor.\n\nFrom the morning watch until night
 * let Israel trust in the Lord.\n\nO Lord\, the prophet\, shining with You
r all-radiant beams\,* was seen even by his opponents to be blessed and ho
nourable\;* for the adversary was put to shame by his virtues\;* and he fo
resaw the things of the future* as though  they were present ascents.\n\n
Tone 2\n\nFor with the Lord there is mercy\, and with Him there is plentif
ul redemption\;* and He shall redeem Israel from all its iniquities.\n\nBl
essed Father Clement!* From your youth you loved God\,* by your life you t
aught the people the faith of Christ.* By adorning the monastery of Univ y
ou beautified your soul with virtues* and received the crown prepared for
you because of your struggles\, O blessed one.\n\nPraise the Lord\, all th
e nations\;* proclaim His glory\, all you people.\n\nBlessed Father Clemen
t!* By your pure life you shone forth as a model* of the God-given rule th
at leads to salvation* and laid low the legions of demons.* Therefore\, de
liver us today from the fog of sin\, O blessed one.\n\nStrong is the love
of the Lord for us\;* eternally will His truth endure.\n\nBlessed Father C
lement!* You blossomed forth beautifully by your wondrous deeds* as a mode
l for your disciples.* Today you rejoice with the bodiless powers\,* glori
fying God without ceasing.* Pray to Him that He grant oneness of mind to t
 he Church\,* peace and great mercy\, O blessed one.\n\nTone 6\, Glory… \
n\nO light placed on high\, blessed archimandrite Clement\,* you illumined
all with the word of Christ\,* granting salvation to those who thirst\,*
revealing the Light of Christ to those caught in darkness and held fast by
anger.* The impious sought to destroy you\,* but by giving up your life f
or Christ\,* your light ascended to the heights of heaven\,* illumining th
e way of salvation for our souls.\n\nTone 6\, Now…\n\nHaving come togeth
er at the Mid-feast* between Your Resurrection and the divine coming of Yo
ur Holy Spirit\, O Christ\,* we praise the mysteries of Your wonders.* The
refore\, on this day send down Your great mercy to us.\n\nAposticha\n\nTon
 e 5\n\nThe all-holy mid-feast of the Saviour’s Resurrection* has now app
eared like the brightness of noon\,* shining upon the world with the divin
e grace of Christ’s arising\,* flashing forth with unerring signs of inc
orruption* revealing His Ascension into the heights.* The most bright feas
t of Pentecost is manifestly radiant* with the Holy Spirit’s descent to
us.* Therefore it bestows upon our souls peace and great mercy.\n\nI have
lifted up my eyes to You enthroned in heaven. Behold\, as the eyes of serv
ants are on the hands of their masters\, as the eyes of a maid are on the
hands of her mistress\, so are our eyes on the Lord our God until He has m
ercy on us.\n\nHaving reached the feast of Mid-Pentecost\,* the Lord now i
mparts the streams of His great compassion\,* like a Divine River of Glory
\, crying aloud to all:* “You that are thirsty\, come to Me and draw for
th abundantly.* For I am a well-spring of empathy and an abyss of mercy\,*
pouring forth forgiveness upon the world\,* purging sins\, and expunging
maladies.”* And He saves them that keep the memorial of His Resurrection
\,* and protects them that honour and with love celebrate His Ascension in
glory\,* granting to our souls peace and great mercy.\n\nHave mercy on us
\, O Lord\, have mercy on us\; for we have been filled with shame\; our so
ul is all too full of the mockery of the rich\, of the contempt of the pro
ud.\n\nHaving stood within the temple’s court\,* He who is the uncircums
cribable God and Lord\,* who by nature is God\,* and for our sake became i
ncarnate\, and circumscribed in the flesh* poured forth for all mankind vi
vifying teachings\,* saying: Be purified in your souls\;* Quench the burni
ng heat of the passions.* Let no one be deprived of this draught\,* for up
on him that drinks I bestow the divine grace* of an immortal and better he
avenly Kingdom\,* which he shall share with Me\, the Creator\,* and thus b
 e glorified.\n\nTone 6\, Glory… \n\nThe joyous spring time of the Pascha
of the Lord has dawned on us today!* Let us rejoice and draw from the fru
its of its harvest:* life\, incorruption\, and immortality.* Come\, O you
faithful\,* and let us also celebrate the annual memory of the hieromartyr
Clement!* He shone forth with an abundant harvest of virtues:* riches thr
ough poverty\,* a noble spirit through humility\,* victorious strength thr
ough weakness and suffering\,* and\, following after Christ\,* he passes f
rom death to life.\n\nTone 8\, Now…\n\nYou\, the Wisdom of God\, came to
the temple at Mid-feast\,* teaching and reproving the disobedient Jews\,
the Pharisees\, and Scribes\,* and with boldness You cried to them:* He th
at thirsts\, let him come to Me and drink living water\,* and he shall nev
er again thirst to eternity.* From him that believes in My goodness\,* riv
ers of eternal life shall pour forth from his noetic belly.* O how great i
s Your goodness and compassion\,* O Christ our God! Glory be to You.\n\nTr
oparia\n\nTone 2\n\nCelebrating the memory of Your Prophet Jeremiah\, O Lo
rd\, * through him we entreat You to save our souls.\n\nTone 4\, Glory…\
n\nAccepting the angelic image and following the life in Christ* you renou
nced the wealth and generosity of your father’s house\,* you freely chos
e the poverty of monastic life* and did not waver from the Cross and marty
 rdom. * All-blessed hieromartyr Clement\,* righteous and gentle father\,*
leader of monks\, defender of orphans and comforter of prisoners\,* pray f
 or our souls.\n\nTone 8\, Now…\n\nAt the mid-point of the Feast\, O Savi
our\,* water my thirsty soul with streams of true godliness\;* for You cri
ed out to all: Let any who thirst\, come to Me and drink.* Source of life\
, Christ our God\, glory to You!\nAT DIVINE LITURGY ON FRIDAY MORNING\nAft
er the priest has exclaimed\, Blessed be the Kingdom… and the people hav
e responded\, Amen\, the clergy sing the Paschal Troparion once and the pe
ople repeat it. Then\, the clergy sing the first half\, and the people con
clude it.\n\nPaschal Troparion\n\nChrist is risen from the dead\,* trampli
ng death by death\,* and to those in the tombs* giving life.\n\nTroparia a

 \, Christ our God\, glory to You!\n\nTroparion\, Tone 2: Celebrating the m
emory of Your Prophet Jeremiah\, O Lord\, * through him we entreat You to
save our souls.\n\nTroparion\, Tone 4: Accepting the angelic image and fol
lowing the life in Christ* you renounced the wealth and generosity of your
father’s house\,* you freely chose the poverty of monastic life* and di

hold our God! There is no other to compare with Him\, * Who has appeared\,
incarnate\, on the earth!”\n\nNow and for ever and ever. Amen.\n\nKonta
kion\, Tone 4: At the mid-point of the Feast according to the Law\,* Maker
of all things and Master\,* You said to those present\, O Christ God:* Co
me\, and draw the water of immortality.* And so we fall before You crying
out with faith: Grant us Your mercies \, for You are the source of our lif
e.\n\nProkeimenon\, Tone 3\n\nGreat is our Lord\, and great is His strengt

Those who eat My flesh and drink My blood* abide in Me and I in them\, say
